Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Electrical, Industrial Metals & Mining and Gas, Water & Multiutilities sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 gained 0.37%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Standard Life Aberdeen PLC (LON:SLA), which rose 2.96% or 6.90 points to trade at 240.10 at the close. SSE PLC (LON:SSE) added 2.59% or 32.50 points to end at 1286.50 and British Land Company PLC (LON:BLND) was up 2.58% or 8.80 points to 349.20 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Sberbank Of Russia (LON:SBNCyq), which lost 9.74% or 1.15 points to trade at 10.61 in late trade. Melrose Industries PLC (LON:MRON) declined 2.95% or 3.55 points to end at 116.65 and Rolls-Royce Holdings PLC (LON:RR) shed 2.74% or 3.20 points to 113.60.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1220 to 932 and 181 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.52% or 10.05 to $1906.25 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 3.59% or 1.39 to hit $37.33 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 3.44% or 1.41 to trade at $39.52 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.33% to 1.2932, while EUR/GBP fell 0.54% to 0.9062.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.12% at 93.873.
