Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Support Services, Industrial Transportation and Electronic & Electrical Equipment sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 added 0.31% to hit a new 1-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Scottish Mortgage Investment Trust PLC (LON:SMT), which rose 6.57% or 49.00 points to trade at 794.80 at the close. Ocado Group PLC (LON:OCDO) added 5.01% or 43.00 points to end at 901.40 and BHP Group PLC (LON:BHPB) was up 3.53% or 85.50 points to 2,506.50 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Johnson Matthey PLC (LON:JMAT), which lost 6.75% or 153.00 points to trade at 2,113.00 in late trade. ITV PLC (LON:ITV) declined 3.87% or 2.84 points to end at 70.64 and Centrica PLC (LON:CNA) shed 2.40% or 1.90 points to 77.24.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1193 to 611 and 454 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.18% or 3.34 to $1,850.94 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 0.53% or 0.60 to hit $114.69 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract rose 0.83% or 0.95 to trade at $115.12 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.07% to 1.26, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.19% to 0.85.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.02% at 101.88.
