Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Travel & Leisure, Automobiles & Parts and Media sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 gained 0.31%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Flutter Entertainment PLC (LON:FLTRF), which rose 6.82% or 810.0 points to trade at 12680.0 at the close. Carnival PLC (LON:CCL) added 4.53% or 39.8 points to end at 918.6 and Rolls-Royce Holdings PLC (LON:RR) was up 3.10% or 4.65 points to 154.75 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Standard Chartered PLC (LON:STAN), which lost 2.66% or 9.20 points to trade at 336.80 in late trade. J Sainsbury PLC (LON:SBRY) declined 2.40% or 4.85 points to end at 197.25 and Surgutneftegaz L (LON:SNGSyq) shed 2.15% or 0.10 points to 4.36.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1069 to 1069 and 181 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.58% or 10.85 to $1866.05 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 0.37% or 0.15 to hit $40.16 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract fell 0.26% or 0.11 to trade at $41.83 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.36% to 1.2704, while EUR/GBP fell 0.04% to 0.9149.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.38% at 94.748.
