Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Real Estate Investment Trusts REITs, Real Estate and Banking sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 added 0.29%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Tui AG (LON:TUIT), which rose 2.98% or 15.20 points to trade at 526.00 at the close. Carnival PLC (LON:CCL) added 2.65% or 18.60 points to end at 719.40 and 3I Group PLC (LON:III) was up 2.60% or 47.50 points to 1,876.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Ocado Group PLC (LON:OCDO), which lost 2.36% or 10.40 points to trade at 431.00 in late trade. Rolls-Royce Holdings PLC (LON:RR) declined 2.16% or 3.20 points to end at 145.10 and DCC plc (LON:DCC) shed 1.38% or 65.00 points to 4,654.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 959 to 786 and 500 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.14% or 2.75 to $2,022.55 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 1.88% or 1.32 to hit $71.36 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 1.70% or 1.26 to trade at $75.43 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.60% to 1.25, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.31% to 0.87.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.26% at 102.24.
