Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Tobacco, Industrial Transportation and Gas, Water & Multiutilities sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 gained 0.28%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Scottish Mortgage Investment Trust PLC (LON:SMT), which rose 4.48% or 50.00 points to trade at 1165.00 at the close. Rightmove PLC (LON:RMV) added 3.38% or 19.20 points to end at 587.00 and DCC plc (LON:DCC) was up 3.30% or 206.0 points to 6452.0 in late trade.
Biggest losers included EasyJet PLC (LON:EZJ), which lost 5.43% or 54.00 points to trade at 941.20 in late trade. International Consolidated Airlines Group S.A. (LON:ICAG) declined 5.20% or 10.75 points to end at 195.95 and Tui AG (LON:TUIT) shed 4.93% or 19.60 points to 378.00.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1150 to 1129 and 193 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was down 0.19% or 3.35 to $1738.35 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in May fell 0.28% or 0.17 to hit $61.27 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract rose 0.02% or 0.01 to trade at $64.27 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.01% to 1.3861, while EUR/GBP rose 0.03% to 0.8610.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.12% at 91.812.
