Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Oil & Gas Producers, Industrial Metals & Mining and Construction & Materials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 gained 0.25%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Tui AG (LON:TUIT), which rose 6.68% or 23.70 points to trade at 378.60 at the close. International Consolidated Airlines Group S.A. (LON:ICAG) added 3.98% or 7.45 points to end at 194.80 and EasyJet PLC (LON:EZJ) was up 3.65% or 33.20 points to 943.60 in late trade.
Biggest losers included GMK Norilskiy Nikel PAO DRC (LON:NKELyq), which lost 3.94% or 1.15 points to trade at 28.06 in late trade. Taylor Wimpey PLC (LON:TW) declined 3.10% or 5.70 points to end at 178.15 and Scottish Mortgage Investment Trust PLC (LON:SMT) shed 2.69% or 31.00 points to 1122.00.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1153 to 1085 and 230 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.48% or 8.35 to $1733.45 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in May rose 5.32% or 3.07 to hit $60.83 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract rose 0.03% or 0.02 to trade at $64.15 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.04% to 1.3689, while EUR/GBP rose 0.02% to 0.8629.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.29% at 92.613.
