Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Mining, Chemicals and Pharmaceuticals & Biotech sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 gained 0.22%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Croda International PLC (LON:CRDA), which rose 2.62% or 236.0 points to trade at 9258.0 at the close. Bank VTB PAO DRC (LON:VTBRq) added 2.28% or 0.034 points to end at 1.524 and DCC plc (LON:DCC) was up 2.10% or 128.0 points to 6224.0 in late trade.
Biggest losers included London Stock Exchange Group PLC (LON:LSEG), which lost 5.99% or 484.0 points to trade at 7600.0 in late trade. InterContinental Hotels Group PLC (LON:IHG) declined 2.92% or 146.0 points to end at 4850.0 and International Consolidated Airlines Group S.A. (LON:ICAG) shed 2.56% or 4.10 points to 156.06.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1061 to 916 and 459 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.43% or 7.65 to $1789.55 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 0.84% or 0.69 to hit $83.19 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 0.63% or 0.53 to trade at $85.14 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.37% to 1.3740, while EUR/GBP rose 0.43% to 0.8460.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.01% at 93.752.
