Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Travel & Leisure, Mining and Real Estate Investment Trusts REITs sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 added 0.21%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Flutter Entertainment PLC (LON:FLTRF), which rose 3.31% or 375.0 points to trade at 11715.0 at the close. Carnival PLC (LON:CCL) added 2.62% or 36.6 points to end at 1432.0 and Johnson Matthey PLC (LON:JMAT) was up 2.16% or 44.0 points to 2078.0 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Ashtead Group PLC (LON:AHT), which lost 1.83% or 112.0 points to trade at 6008.0 in late trade. Berkeley Group Holdings PLC (LON:BKGH) declined 1.53% or 75.0 points to end at 4824.0 and London Stock Exchange Group PLC (LON:LSEG) shed 1.53% or 108.0 points to 6960.0.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 992 to 770 and 592 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.51% or 9.25 to $1815.05 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 0.47% or 0.36 to hit $76.92 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract rose 0.32% or 0.25 to trade at $79.46 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.06% to 1.3493, while EUR/GBP fell 0.34% to 0.8384.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.19% at 96.105.
