Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Software & Computer Services, Technology Hardware & Equipment and Oil Equipment Services & Distribution sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 rose 0.20%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Micro Focus International (LON:MCRO), which rose 14.73% or 288.00 points to trade at 2243.00 at the close. International Consolidated Airlines Group S.A. (LON:ICAG) added 3.97% or 16.10 points to end at 422.10 and Dixons Carphone PLC (LON:DC) was up 3.96% or 14.80 points to 389.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Pearson PLC (LON:PSON), which lost 7.70% or 66.50 points to trade at 797.00 in late trade. Mediclinic International PLC (LON:MDCM) declined 3.31% or 33.00 points to end at 964.50 and Burberry Group PLC (LON:BRBY) shed 2.36% or 31.000 points to 1285.000.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1245 to 890 and 427 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was down 0.52% or 6.95 to $1342.25 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 3.74% or 1.70 to hit $47.20 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 3.46% or 1.66 to trade at $49.64 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.28% to 1.3302, while EUR/GBP rose 0.42% to 0.8461.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.08% at 95.03.
