Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Aerospace & Defense, Real Estate Investment Trusts REITs and Real Estate sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 added 0.20%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Rolls-Royce Holdings PLC (LON:RR), which rose 19.33% or 17.84 points to trade at 110.14 at the close. Centrica PLC (LON:CNA) added 2.90% or 2.38 points to end at 84.50 and British Land Company PLC (LON:BLND) was up 2.85% or 14.60 points to 527.60 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Persimmon PLC (LON:PSN), which lost 4.38% or 96.00 points to trade at 2,096.00 in late trade. Taylor Wimpey PLC (LON:TW) declined 3.64% or 5.00 points to end at 132.35 and B&M European Value Retail SA (LON:BMEB) shed 3.62% or 21.00 points to 559.60.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 989 to 845 and 487 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was down 0.39% or 7.70 to $1,954.50 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in May rose 0.51% or 0.57 to hit $112.91 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract rose 0.32% or 0.38 to trade at $119.41 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.08% to 1.32, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.04% to 0.83.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.04% at 98.76.
