Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Automobiles & Parts, General Retailers and Software & Computer Services sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 added 0.18% to hit a new 1-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Avast PLC (LON:AVST), which rose 5.86% or 24.60 points to trade at 444.60 at the close. Scottish Mortgage Investment Trust PLC (LON:SMT) added 5.78% or 61.00 points to end at 1117.00 and GMK Norilskiy Nikel PAO DRC (LON:NKELyq) was up 5.26% or 1.54 points to 30.84 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Standard Life Aberdeen PLC (LON:SLA), which lost 7.18% or 22.90 points to trade at 296.10 in late trade. Anglo American PLC (LON:AAL) declined 4.41% or 133.0 points to end at 2885.5 and Rio Tinto PLC (LON:RIO) shed 3.66% or 221.0 points to 5819.0.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1377 to 862 and 203 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was up 2.21% or 37.05 to $1715.05 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in April fell 1.75% or 1.14 to hit $63.91 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract fell 1.19% or 0.81 to trade at $67.43 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.54% to 1.3898, while EUR/GBP fell 0.05% to 0.8560.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.39% at 91.977.
