Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Mobile Telecommunications, Automobiles & Parts and Banking sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 rose 0.18%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Tui AG (LON:TUIT), which rose 6.09% or 17.60 points to trade at 306.50 at the close. EasyJet PLC (LON:EZJ) added 6.03% or 30.40 points to end at 534.60 and Hargreaves Lansdown PLC (LON:HRGV) was up 4.63% or 62.50 points to 1411.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included BAE Systems PLC (LON:BAES), which lost 4.86% or 22.60 points to trade at 442.30 in late trade. Fresnillo PLC (LON:FRES) declined 3.65% or 46.50 points to end at 1228.50 and Ocado Group PLC (LON:OCDO) shed 3.42% or 83.00 points to 2342.00.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1164 to 1014 and 172 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 1.38% or 26.65 to $1902.85 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 1.67% or 0.67 to hit $40.70 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 1.89% or 0.79 to trade at $42.52 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.38% to 1.3095, while EUR/GBP rose 0.15% to 0.9029.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.33% at 92.907.
