Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Mining, Construction & Materials and Automobiles & Parts sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 rose 0.16%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Antofagasta PLC (LON:ANTO), which rose 3.55% or 28.60 points to trade at 833.60 at the close. Glencore PLC (LON:GLEN) added 3.30% or 10.25 points to end at 320.75 and Anglo American PLC (LON:AAL) was up 2.54% or 39.00 points to 1575.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included British American Tobacco PLC (LON:BATS), which lost 3.42% or 138.50 points to trade at 3909.00 in late trade. Capita PLC (LON:CPI) declined 3.22% or 4.75 points to end at 142.60 and The Berkeley Group Holdings plc (LON:BKGH) shed 1.76% or 65.00 points to 3635.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1072 to 885 and 376 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 1.68% or 20.00 to $1214.00 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 1.84% or 1.25 to hit $69.08 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 1.85% or 1.38 to trade at $76.11 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.39% to 1.2865, while EUR/GBP rose 0.39% to 0.9041.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.58% at 95.00.
