Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Support Services, Real Estate Investment Trusts REITs and Real Estate sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 gained 0.15% to hit a new all time high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Experian PLC (LON:EXPN), which rose 8.13% or 282.00 points to trade at 3,752.00 at the close. Imperial Brands PLC (LON:IMB) added 5.75% or 108.00 points to end at 1,986.50 and Segro Plc (LON:SGRO) was up 5.52% or 49.00 points to 936.80 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Burberry Group PLC (LON:BRBY), which lost 7.28% or 86.50 points to trade at 1,102.00 in late trade. Compass Group PLC (LON:CPG) declined 2.97% or 69.00 points to end at 2,252.00 and B&M European Value Retail SA (LON:BMEB) shed 2.44% or 13.40 points to 535.20.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1165 to 669 and 685 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was up 1.04% or 24.55 to $2,384.45 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 0.46% or 0.36 to hit $78.38 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 0.35% or 0.29 to trade at $82.67 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.51% to 1.27, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.13% to 0.86.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.47% at 104.39.
