Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Financial Services, General Industrial and Electrical sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 added 0.15%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were International Consolidated Airlines Group S.A. (LON:ICAG), which rose 6.50% or 6.74 points to trade at 110.42 at the close. Carnival PLC (LON:CCL) added 4.09% or 26.20 points to end at 667.00 and Coca Cola HBC AG (LON:CCH) was up 3.60% or 67.00 points to 1,928.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included AVEVA Group PLC (LON:AVV), which lost 2.54% or 60.00 points to trade at 2,300.00 in late trade. BP PLC (LON:BP) declined 1.96% or 7.55 points to end at 377.05 and Land Securities Group PLC (LON:LAND) shed 1.87% or 12.60 points to 662.40.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 889 to 860 and 473 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.33% or 5.70 to $1,726.00 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 7.72% or 8.04 to hit $96.05 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 6.85% or 7.34 to trade at $99.76 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.06% to 1.19, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.14% to 0.85.
The US Dollar Index Futures was unchanged 0.00% at 107.83.
