Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Industrial Metals & Mining, Mining and Food Producers sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 rose 0.15%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Provident Financial PLC (LON:PFG), which rose 15.25% or 78.00 points to trade at 589.40 at the close. Anglo American PLC (LON:AAL) added 3.38% or 67.20 points to end at 2057.00 and Hikma Pharmaceuticals PLC (LON:HIK) was up 3.27% or 54.00 points to 1703.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Barclays PLC (LON:BARC), which lost 2.89% or 4.64 points to trade at 156.14 in late trade. Kingfisher PLC (LON:KGF) declined 2.26% or 5.40 points to end at 233.60 and Travis Perkins PLC (LON:TPK) shed 1.71% or 22.00 points to 1262.50.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1131 to 898 and 347 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.46% or 6.05 to $1333.85 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in April rose 0.74% or 0.42 to hit $57.38 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract rose 0.18% or 0.12 to trade at $67.19 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.16% to 1.3070, while EUR/GBP fell 0.02% to 0.8680.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.13% at 96.333.
