Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Mobile Telecommunications, Life Insurance/Assurance and Industrial Metals & Mining sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 added 0.14% to hit a new all time high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were BT Group PLC (LON:BT), which rose 17.19% or 19.45 points to trade at 132.60 at the close. Burberry Group PLC (LON:BRBY) added 3.45% or 38.00 points to end at 1,140.00 and Prudential PLC (LON:PRU) was up 2.94% or 23.60 points to 827.40 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Sage Group PLC (LON:SGE), which lost 9.44% or 113.00 points to trade at 1,084.50 in late trade. ConvaTec Group PLC (LON:CTEC) declined 4.06% or 10.80 points to end at 255.40 and International Consolidated Airlines Group S.A. (LON:ICAG) shed 2.80% or 5.10 points to 176.95.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 985 to 843 and 684 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.46% or 10.95 to $2,383.95 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 0.89% or 0.70 to hit $79.33 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 0.60% or 0.50 to trade at $83.25 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.09% to 1.27, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.02% to 0.86.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.14% at 104.36.
