Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Household Goods & Home Construction, Industrial Transportation and Tobacco sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 gained 0.14%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Taylor Wimpey PLC (LON:TW), which rose 2.66% or 4.31 points to trade at 166.06 at the close. Prudential PLC (LON:PRU) added 2.54% or 31.50 points to end at 1272.50 and Berkeley Group Holdings PLC (LON:BKGH) was up 2.14% or 92.0 points to 4398.0 in late trade.
Biggest losers included EasyJet PLC (LON:EZJ), which lost 4.66% or 38.47 points to trade at 786.73 in late trade. Carnival PLC (LON:CCL) declined 3.62% or 49.5 points to end at 1319.5 and Experian PLC (LON:EXPN) shed 3.53% or 92.6 points to 2527.4.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1222 to 1098 and 94 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.28% or 5.20 to $1839.40 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in March fell 0.16% or 0.09 to hit $57.88 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract fell 0.02% or 0.01 to trade at $60.69 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.38% to 1.3791, while EUR/GBP rose 0.04% to 0.8770.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.38% at 90.602.
