Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Industrial Transportation, Travel & Leisure and Electrical sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 added 0.13%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were EasyJet PLC (LON:EZJ), which rose 7.17% or 40.60 points to trade at 606.60 at the close. Ashtead Group PLC (LON:AHT) added 5.26% or 308.0 points to end at 6162.0 and International Consolidated Airlines Group S.A. (LON:ICAG) was up 3.89% or 5.34 points to 142.46 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Anglo American PLC (LON:AAL), which lost 4.57% or 135.0 points to trade at 2818.5 in late trade. Rio Tinto PLC (LON:RIO) declined 4.00% or 209.0 points to end at 5010.0 and Fresnillo PLC (LON:FRES) shed 3.73% or 31.60 points to 816.40.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1097 to 880 and 479 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 2.21% or 39.75 to $1755.05 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 0.41% or 0.30 to hit $72.31 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract fell 0.20% or 0.15 to trade at $75.31 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.34% to 1.3789, while EUR/GBP fell 0.07% to 0.8531.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.35% at 92.862.
