Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Industrial Metals & Mining, Household Goods & Home Construction and Travel & Leisure sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 rose 0.13%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were EasyJet PLC (LON:EZJ), which rose 5.32% or 42.60 points to trade at 843.40 at the close. Tui AG (LON:TUIT) added 5.29% or 16.30 points to end at 324.30 and Carnival PLC (LON:CCL) was up 5.18% or 76.6 points to 1554.4 in late trade.
Biggest losers included J Sainsbury PLC (LON:SBRY), which lost 4.85% or 16.50 points to trade at 323.50 in late trade. Imperial Brands PLC (LON:IMB) declined 2.18% or 34.00 points to end at 1524.50 and B&M European Value Retail SA (LON:BMEB) shed 1.79% or 10.40 points to 569.80.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1130 to 809 and 470 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.13% or 2.30 to $1808.60 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 2.74% or 1.80 to hit $67.44 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 2.85% or 1.95 to trade at $70.32 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.03% to 1.3714, while EUR/GBP rose 0.09% to 0.8565.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.01% at 92.983.
