Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Mobile Telecommunications, Household Goods & Home Construction and Healthcare Equipment & Services sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 gained 0.11%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were NMC Health PLC (LON:NMC), which rose 10.23% or 128.50 points to trade at 1385.00 at the close. Taylor Wimpey PLC (LON:TW) added 3.91% or 7.90 points to end at 209.90 and Vodafone Group PLC (LON:VOD) was up 3.25% or 4.92 points to 156.54 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Pearson PLC (LON:PSON), which lost 3.29% or 20.60 points to trade at 605.00 in late trade. Mondi PLC (LON:MNDI) declined 2.57% or 43.00 points to end at 1630.00 and Marks and Spencer Group PLC (LON:MKS) shed 2.38% or 4.50 points to 185.00.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1075 to 1055 and 219 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.41% or 6.35 to $1544.25 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 0.62% or 0.36 to hit $58.44 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract rose 0.98% or 0.63 to trade at $64.83 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.29% to 1.3026, while EUR/GBP fell 0.29% to 0.8546.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.03% at 97.085.
