Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Industrial Metals & Mining, Food Producers and Oil & Gas Producers sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 rose 0.10% to hit a new 1-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Taylor Wimpey PLC (LON:TW), which rose 1.93% or 3.70 points to trade at 195.20 at the close. Worldpay Group PLC (LON:WPG) added 1.86% or 7.00 points to end at 383.60 and Kingfisher PLC (LON:KGF) was up 1.31% or 4.00 points to 309.40 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Hikma Pharmaceuticals PLC (LON:HIK), which lost 6.37% or 91.00 points to trade at 1338.00 in late trade. Paddy Power Betfair PLC (LON:PPB) declined 4.11% or 310.00 points to end at 7240.00 and InterContinental Hotels Group PLC (LON:IHG) shed 3.99% or 176.00 points to 4235.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1032 to 853 and 451 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.34% or 4.32 to $1260.38 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 0.04% or 0.02 to hit $49.37 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 0.02% or 0.01 to trade at $52.38 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.46% to 1.2975, while EUR/GBP fell 0.10% to 0.9041.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.38% at 93.65.
