Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Travel & Leisure, Tobacco and Food Producers sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 added 0.10%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were International Consolidated Airlines Group S.A. (LON:ICAG), which rose 3.95% or 5.02 points to trade at 132.04 at the close. Associated British Foods PLC (LON:ABF) added 3.66% or 69.0 points to end at 1952.5 and Tui AG (LON:TUIT) was up 3.66% or 7.60 points to 215.50 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Croda International PLC (LON:CRDA), which lost 3.15% or 323.0 points to trade at 9922.0 in late trade. Bank VTB PAO DRC (LON:VTBRq) declined 3.00% or 0.038 points to end at 1.230 and NK Rosneft PAO DRC (LON:ROSNq) shed 2.65% or 0.21 points to 7.58.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1032 to 924 and 501 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.37% or 6.60 to $1804.80 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 1.99% or 1.44 to hit $70.94 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract fell 2.03% or 1.52 to trade at $73.50 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.44% to 1.3260, while EUR/GBP fell 0.05% to 0.8498.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.42% at 96.420.
