Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Life Insurance/Assurance, Automobiles & Parts and General Industrial sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 rose 0.08%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Old Mutual Ltd (LON:OMU), which rose 3.52% or 4.40 points to trade at 129.36 at the close. Provident Financial PLC (LON:PFG) added 3.50% or 20.60 points to end at 610.00 and Prudential PLC (LON:PRU) was up 3.13% or 48.00 points to 1583.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Pearson PLC (LON:PSON), which lost 5.40% or 48.80 points to trade at 854.20 in late trade. Persimmon PLC (LON:PSN) declined 4.70% or 116.00 points to end at 2352.00 and Bunzl PLC (LON:BNZL) shed 3.66% or 93.00 points to 2446.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1076 to 1015 and 296 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was down 0.30% or 3.95 to $1328.85 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in April fell 3.23% or 1.85 to hit $55.41 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract fell 3.32% or 2.23 to trade at $65.02 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.22% to 1.3081, while EUR/GBP rose 0.06% to 0.8677.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.01% at 96.375.
