Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Industrial Metals & Mining, Industrial Engineering and Industrial Transportation sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 gained 0.06%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Antofagasta PLC (LON:ANTO), which rose 3.50% or 49.00 points to trade at 1448.50 at the close. Experian PLC (LON:EXPN) added 2.55% or 83.0 points to end at 3335.0 and Associated British Foods PLC (LON:ABF) was up 2.07% or 40.0 points to 1970.0 in late trade.
Biggest losers included International Consolidated Airlines Group S.A. (LON:ICAG), which lost 4.07% or 6.16 points to trade at 145.32 in late trade. Tui AG (LON:TUIT) declined 3.98% or 12.00 points to end at 289.20 and EasyJet PLC (LON:EZJ) shed 3.87% or 27.40 points to 680.80.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1085 to 862 and 497 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.31% or 5.50 to $1794.50 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 2.41% or 1.64 to hit $69.78 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 2.04% or 1.46 to trade at $72.91 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.11% to 1.3851, while EUR/GBP fell 0.13% to 0.8533.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.08% at 92.552.
