Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Tobacco, Fixed Line Telecommunications and Beverage sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 added 0.06%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Hargreaves Lansdown PLC (LON:HRGV), which rose 5.32% or 80.00 points to trade at 1585.00 at the close. Auto Trader Group Plc (LON:AUTOA) added 3.56% or 17.10 points to end at 496.90 and Reckitt Benckiser Group PLC (LON:RB) was up 2.98% or 198.0 points to 6846.0 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Centrica PLC (LON:CNA), which lost 8.82% or 3.52 points to trade at 36.39 in late trade. EasyJet PLC (LON:EZJ) declined 5.91% or 31.40 points to end at 500.00 and Informa PLC (LON:INF) shed 5.15% or 23.40 points to 430.90.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1192 to 1010 and 125 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.85% or 14.55 to $1699.35 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June fell 0.97% or 0.24 to hit $24.50 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract fell 2.94% or 0.91 to trade at $30.06 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.49% to 1.2347, while EUR/GBP rose 0.24% to 0.8756.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.46% at 100.230.
