Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Pharmaceuticals & Biotech, Banking and Industrial Metals & Mining sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 added 0.05%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Ocado Group PLC (LON:OCDO), which rose 6.70% or 43.40 points to trade at 691.20 at the close. BHP Group PLC (LON:BHPB) added 2.50% or 57.00 points to end at 2,334.00 and Rightmove PLC (LON:RMV) was up 2.38% or 13.20 points to 567.60 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Halma PLC (LON:HLMA), which lost 3.75% or 76.00 points to trade at 1,949.00 in late trade. Centrica PLC (LON:CNA) declined 2.78% or 4.80 points to end at 167.65 and Tui AG (LON:TUIT) shed 2.23% or 11.00 points to 482.20.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 997 to 653 and 486 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.31% or 6.05 to $1,945.65 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 0.46% or 0.41 to hit $90.04 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 0.08% or 0.07 to trade at $93.37 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.31% to 1.23, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.32% to 0.87.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.11% at 105.16.
