Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Electronic & Electrical Equipment, Industrial Metals & Mining and Travel & Leisure sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 gained 0.04%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Tui AG (LON:TUIT), which rose 4.37% or 9.90 points to trade at 236.30 at the close. International Consolidated Airlines Group S.A. (LON:ICAG) added 3.79% or 5.12 points to end at 140.30 and Carnival PLC (LON:CCL) was up 3.64% or 47.50 points to 1,351.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Hargreaves Lansdown PLC (LON:HRGV), which lost 2.77% or 27.70 points to trade at 973.80 in late trade. Ocado Group PLC (LON:OCDO) declined 2.62% or 31.00 points to end at 1,153.50 and Abrdn PLC (LON:ABDN) shed 2.62% or 5.30 points to 197.30.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 949 to 876 and 503 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.22% or 4.40 to $1,980.50 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in May rose 2.96% or 2.98 to hit $103.58 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract rose 3.32% or 3.47 to trade at $108.11 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.78% to 1.31, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.23% to 0.83.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.37% at 99.93.
