Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Automobiles & Parts, Fixed Line Telecommunications and Travel & Leisure sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 rose 0.04%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Rolls-Royce Holdings PLC (LON:RR), which rose 21.56% or 26.60 points to trade at 150.00 at the close. Tui AG (LON:TUIT) added 9.61% or 27.50 points to end at 313.70 and EasyJet PLC (LON:EZJ) was up 8.24% or 41.20 points to 541.40 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Ocado Group PLC (LON:OCDO), which lost 8.88% or 237.00 points to trade at 2431.00 in late trade. Rentokil Initial PLC (LON:RTO) declined 3.65% or 19.80 points to end at 523.00 and Croda International PLC (LON:CRDA) shed 2.75% or 174.0 points to 6152.0.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1344 to 848 and 162 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.61% or 11.65 to $1908.45 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 2.75% or 1.08 to hit $40.30 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 2.30% or 0.95 to trade at $42.24 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.23% to 1.2948, while EUR/GBP rose 0.27% to 0.9100.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.01% at 93.550.
