Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Automobiles & Parts, Software & Computer Services and Food Producers sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 rose 0.02%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were GKN PLC (LON:GKN), which rose 5.14% or 15.60 points to trade at 319.00 at the close. Micro Focus International PLC (LON:MCRO) added 2.19% or 54.00 points to end at 2521.00 and Associated British Foods PLC (LON:ABF) was up 1.38% or 46.00 points to 3371.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Mediclinic International PLC (LON:MDCM), which lost 2.65% or 17.00 points to trade at 623.50 in late trade. Hikma Pharmaceuticals PLC (LON:HIK) declined 2.34% or 28.00 points to end at 1170.00 and RSA Insurance Group PLC (LON:RSA) shed 1.72% or 11.00 points to 630.00.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1056 to 865 and 459 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.27% or 3.46 to $1283.96 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 0.04% or 0.02 to hit $51.86 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 0.54% or 0.31 to trade at $57.44 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.11% to 1.3201, while EUR/GBP fell 0.26% to 0.8909.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.13% at 93.69.
