Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Industrial Metals & Mining, Oil Equipment Services & Distribution and Industrial Transportation sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 added 0.02%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Royal Mail PLC (LON:RMG), which rose 4.31% or 14.60 points to trade at 353.00 at the close. Anglo American PLC (LON:AAL) added 2.77% or 45.60 points to end at 1692.40 and Tesco PLC (LON:TSCO) was up 2.48% or 5.20 points to 215.30 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Paddy Power Betfair PLC (LON:PPB), which lost 5.00% or 325.00 points to trade at 6175.00 in late trade. Capita PLC (LON:CPI) declined 4.75% or 6.35 points to end at 127.25 and Vodafone Group PLC (LON:VOD) shed 2.50% or 3.86 points to 150.72.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1306 to 826 and 261 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.24% or 2.90 to $1191.50 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 0.70% or 0.52 to hit $74.81 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 0.98% or 0.82 to trade at $84.73 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.37% to 1.3139, while EUR/GBP fell 0.44% to 0.8740.
The US Dollar Index Futures was unchanged 0.00% at 95.44.
