Investing.com – Sri Lanka equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Plantations, Investment Trust and Banking, Financials & Insurance sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Colombo, the CSE All-Share gained 0.14%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CSE All-Share were Nuwara Eliya Hotels Co PLC (CM:NEH), which rose 21.34% or 299.00 points to trade at 1700.00 at the close. Amana Takaful PLC (CM:ATL) added 16.67% or 0.100 points to end at 0.700 and Office Equipment PLC (CM:OFEQ) was up 12.90% or 6.50 points to 56.90 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Shalimar Estates (CM:SHAL), which lost 24.68% or 567.20 points to trade at 1731.00 in late trade. Kelani Valley Plantations PLC (CM:KVAL) declined 22.00% or 16.50 points to end at 58.50 and Singer Industries PLC (CM:SINI) shed 19.35% or 28.80 points to 120.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 82 to 62 and 59 ended unchanged on the Colombo Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for April delivery was up 1.34% or 0.72 to $54.31 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in April rose 1.27% or 0.71 to hit $56.55 a barrel, while the April Gold Futures contract rose 0.42% or 5.15 to trade at $1238.45 a troy ounce.
GBP/LKR was down 0.67% to 188.660, while USD/LKR fell 0.72% to 151.390.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.04% at 101.35.
