Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Forestry & Paper, Automobiles & Parts and Fixed Line Telecommunications sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 added 0.19%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Mondi PLC (LON:MNDI), which rose 4.29% or 63.00 points to trade at 1531.00 at the close. GKN PLC (LON:GKN) added 3.83% or 11.10 points to end at 301.00 and Fresnillo PLC (LON:FRES) was up 3.67% or 66.00 points to 1867.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Tesco PLC (LON:TSCO), which lost 4.07% or 6.6000 points to trade at 155.5000 in late trade. Barratt Developments PLC (LON:BDEV) declined 3.27% or 13.700 points to end at 405.300 and EasyJet PLC (LON:EZJ) shed 2.99% or 30.500 points to 989.500.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1088 to 1001 and 417 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was up 0.04% or 0.50 to $1327.70 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 1.02% or 0.44 to hit $42.69 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 0.02% or 0.01 to trade at $44.92 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.01% to 1.3133, while EUR/GBP fell 0.05% to 0.8367.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.11% at 97.17.
