Investing.com – Turkey equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Leasing & Factoring, Banking and Sports sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Istanbul, the BIST 100 fell 5.18% to hit a new 52-week low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BIST 100 were TAV Havalimanlari Holding (IS:TAVHL), which rose 3.00% or 0.70 points to trade at 24.00 at the close. Turkiye Sise ve Cam Fabrikalari AS (IS:SISE) added 2.29% or 0.100 points to end at 4.460 and Tofas Turk Otomobil Fabrikasi AS (IS:TOASO) was up 1.51% or 0.34 points to 22.80 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Yatas Yatak ve Yorgan Sanayi Ticaret AS (IS:YATAS), which lost 12.80% or 0.740 points to trade at 5.040 in late trade. Turkiye Garanti Bankasi (IS:GARAN) declined 11.56% or 0.91 points to end at 6.96 and Kiler Gayrimenkul Yatirim Ortakligi AS (IS:KLGYO) shed 11.52% or 0.250 points to 1.920.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 374 to 24 and 11 ended unchanged on the Istanbul Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.66% or 8.30 to $1247.10 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 2.28% or 1.69 to hit $72.42 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 3.21% or 2.53 to trade at $76.33 a barrel.
USD/TRY was up 2.49% to 4.8264, while EUR/TRY rose 2.32% to 5.6612.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.26% at 94.09.
