Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Biotech & Medical Care, Trading & Consumer Goods and Cement sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted gained 1.34%.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Sanfar (TW:9946), which rose 10.00% or 1.60 points to trade at 17.60 at the close. Meanwhile, Jenn Feng (TW:1538) added 10.00% or 0.54 points to end at 5.94 and Hong Yi Fiber (TW:1452) was up 10.00% or 3.05 points to 33.55 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Promise Technology Inc (TW:3057), which fell 8.75% or 2.00 points to trade at 20.85 at the close. Cheer Time (TW:3229) declined 8.15% or 2.60 points to end at 29.30 and Wei Chih Steel (TW:2028) was down 7.78% or 0.13 points to 1.54.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 667 to 175.
Shares in Promise Technology Inc (TW:3057) fell to 52-week lows; losing 8.75% or 2.00 to 20.85. Shares in Wei Chih Steel (TW:2028) fell to all time lows; falling 7.78% or 0.13 to 1.54.
Crude oil for August delivery was down 2.31% or 1.22 to $51.52 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in September fell 2.65% or 1.56 to hit $57.44 a barrel, while the August Gold contract rose 0.19% or 2.20 to trade at $1160.10 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.72% to 31.003, while TWD/CNY fell 0.20% to 0.1994.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.14% at 96.09.
