Investing.com – Taiwan equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the , Glass and Other sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted lost 0.84%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Oceanic Bevera (TW:1213), which rose 6.21% or 1.05 points to trade at 17.95 at the close. Casetek (TW:5264) added 6.10% or 10.00 points to end at 174.00 and Gordon Auto (TW:1524) was up 5.43% or 0.38 points to 7.38 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Ruentex (TW:9945), which lost 10.00% or 4.70 points to trade at 42.30 in late trade. Ruentex Ind (TW:2915) declined 9.93% or 5.70 points to end at 51.70 and Prime Eltrs (TW:6152) shed 9.80% or 1.20 points to 11.05.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 684 to 116 and 50 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for May delivery was down 0.91% or 0.36 to $39.03 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in June fell 1.00% or 0.41 to hit $40.46 a barrel, while the June Gold contract fell 0.14% or 1.70 to trade at $1220.30 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.27% to 32.628, while TWD/CNY rose 0.30% to 0.2011.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.04% at 96.03.
