Investing.com – Taiwan equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the , Electronic Products Distribution and Electricity sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted declined 0.31%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Action Eltr (TW:3024), which rose 10.00% or 0.680 points to trade at 7.480 at the close. Pec (TW:4916) added 9.97% or 3.65 points to end at 40.25 and Chiu Ting Mach (TW:1539) was up 9.89% or 2.35 points to 26.10 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Transasia (TW:6702), which lost 9.78% or 0.27 points to trade at 2.49 in late trade. Hannstar Board (TW:5469) declined 9.26% or 1.95 points to end at 19.10 and Wt Microelectr (TW:3036) shed 8.59% or 3.90 points to 41.50.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 508 to 283 and 79 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for January delivery was down 1.08% or 0.56 to $51.12 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in February fell 1.01% or 0.55 to hit $53.91 a barrel, while the February Gold contract fell 0.00% or 0.05 to trade at $1177.75 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.32% to 32.009, while TWD/CNY unchanged 0.00% to 0.2156.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.62% at 101.37.
