Investing.com – Taiwan equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the , Other Electronic and Iron & Steel sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted fell 0.25%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Brightking Holdings Ltd (TW:6422), which rose 10.00% or 7.20 points to trade at 79.20 at the close. Esmt (TW:3006) added 9.97% or 3.90 points to end at 43.00 and Weltrend Semic (TW:2436) was up 9.96% or 2.40 points to 26.50 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Leadtek (TW:2465), which lost 9.97% or 0.64 points to trade at 5.78 in late trade. Coadna (TW:4984) declined 9.97% or 5.70 points to end at 51.50 and U-Tech (TW:3050) shed 4.60% or 0.55 points to 11.40.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 454 to 311 and 113 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for May delivery was up 1.16% or 0.60 to $52.30 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in June rose 1.02% or 0.56 to hit $55.45 a barrel, while the June Gold Futures contract rose 0.99% or 12.45 to trade at $1265.75 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.15% to 30.599, while TWD/CNY rose 0.09% to 0.2260.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.04% at 100.57.
