Investing.com – Taiwan equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the , Optoelectronic and Glass sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted lost 6.31% to hit a new 52-week low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Chroma ATE Inc (TW:2360), which rose 9.96% or 11.50 points to trade at 127.00 at the close. Fortune Information Systems Corp (TW:2468) added 9.86% or 1.05 points to end at 11.70 and Chuwa Wool Industry Co Taiwan Ltd (TW:1439) was up 6.42% or 1.70 points to 28.20 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Chyang Sheng Dyeing & Finishing Co Ltd (TW:1463), which lost 10.00% or 1.45 points to trade at 13.05 in late trade. Victory New Materials Ltd Co (TW:1340) declined 10.00% or 2.65 points to end at 23.85 and Anderson Industrial Corp (TW:1528) shed 10.00% or 1.15 points to 10.35.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 893 to 12 and 5 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for November delivery was down 1.30% or 0.95 to $72.22 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in December fell 1.37% or 1.14 to hit $81.95 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract rose 0.36% or 4.30 to trade at $1197.70 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.06% to 31.115, while TWD/CNY rose 0.31% to 0.2244.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.18% at 95.05.
