Investing.com – Taiwan equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the , Optoelectronic and Electronic Parts/Components sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted declined 2.34%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Kuangli Photoelectric Technology Co Ltd (TW:6431), which rose 10.00% or 1.35 points to trade at 14.85 at the close. Patec Precision Industry Co Ltd (TW:2236) added 9.87% or 2.95 points to end at 32.85 and Tai Twun Enterprise Co Ltd (TW:3432) was up 8.62% or 1.25 points to 15.75 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Pal Wonn Taiwan Co Ltd (TW:2429), which lost 10.00% or 1.06 points to trade at 9.54 in late trade. Hotel Holiday Garden (TW:2702) declined 10.00% or 2.90 points to end at 26.10 and Chilisin Electronics Corp (TW:2456) shed 9.98% or 9.70 points to 87.50.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 831 to 54 and 26 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for January delivery was down 1.32% or 0.70 to $52.19 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in February fell 1.09% or 0.67 to hit $60.89 a barrel, while the February Gold Futures contract fell 0.03% or 0.40 to trade at $1242.20 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.22% to 30.871, while TWD/CNY rose 0.27% to 0.2230.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.06% at 97.070.
