Investing.com – Taiwan equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the , Other Electronic and Paper & Pulp sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted fell 1.43%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Hung Chou Fiber Ind Co Ltd (TW:1413), which rose 10.00% or 1.25 points to trade at 13.75 at the close. Taiwan Mask Corp (TW:2338) added 9.98% or 2.90 points to end at 31.95 and Chang Type Industrial Co Ltd (TW:1541) was up 9.94% or 3.95 points to 43.70 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Sumagh High Tech Corp (TW:1475), which lost 6.32% or 1.70 points to trade at 25.20 in late trade. China Steel Chemical Corp (TW:1723) declined 5.57% or 8.50 points to end at 144.00 and Rectron Ltd (TW:2302) shed 5.50% or 0.60 points to 10.30.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 564 to 238 and 107 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for July delivery was down 0.03% or 0.02 to $66.62 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in August fell 0.35% or 0.27 to hit $76.47 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract rose 0.29% or 3.80 to trade at $1305.10 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.24% to 29.929, while TWD/CNY rose 0.05% to 0.2149.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.10% at 93.47.
