Investing.com – Taiwan equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the , Plastic and Auto sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted declined 1.29%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Mospec Semiconductor Corp (TW:2434), which rose 9.89% or 0.90 points to trade at 10.00 at the close. momo.com Inc (TW:8454) added 8.96% or 21.00 points to end at 255.50 and Gamma Optical Co Ltd (TW:3557) was up 7.45% or 1.200 points to 17.300 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Spirox Corp (TW:3055), which lost 9.94% or 3.35 points to trade at 30.35 in late trade. Jye Tai Precision Industrial Co Ltd (TW:6165) declined 9.15% or 2.25 points to end at 22.35 and Hai Kwang Enterprise Corp (TW:2038) shed 8.02% or 0.95 points to 10.90.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 643 to 183 and 80 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for March delivery was down 1.02% or 0.67 to $64.89 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in April fell 0.69% or 0.48 to hit $68.72 a barrel, while the February Gold Futures contract fell 0.48% or 6.50 to trade at $1333.80 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.12% to 29.237, while TWD/CNY fell 0.23% to 0.2164.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.16% at 89.31.
