Investing.com – Taiwan equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the , Hotels and Other Electronic sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted lost 0.51%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were VIA Technologies Inc (TW:2388), which rose 9.94% or 2.65 points to trade at 29.30 at the close. SciVision Biotech Inc (TW:1786) added 9.90% or 6.00 points to end at 66.60 and Apex International Co Ltd (TW:4927) was up 9.84% or 1.85 points to 20.65 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Ching Feng Home Fashions Co Ltd (TW:9935), which lost 9.87% or 3.00 points to trade at 27.40 in late trade. Gourmet Master Co Ltd (TW:2723) declined 5.53% or 21.50 points to end at 367.50 and Leadtek Research Inc (TW:2465) shed 5.13% or 1.35 points to 24.95.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 421 to 361 and 128 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for April delivery was down 0.08% or 0.05 to $60.66 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in May fell 0.25% or 0.16 to hit $64.48 a barrel, while the April Gold Futures contract fell 0.09% or 1.20 to trade at $1325.90 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.04% to 29.251, while TWD/CNY rose 0.05% to 0.2171.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.04% at 89.66.
