Investing.com – Taiwan equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the , Paper & Pulp and Electricity sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted fell 0.44% to hit a new 1-month low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were AzureWave Technologies Inc (TW:3694), which rose 9.98% or 2.70 points to trade at 29.75 at the close. Yu Foong International Corp (TW:1438) added 9.97% or 0.780 points to end at 8.600 and Sunonwealth Electric Machine Industry Co Ltd (TW:2421) was up 9.96% or 4.00 points to 44.15 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Universal Microelectronics Co Ltd (TW:2413), which lost 10.00% or 4.35 points to trade at 39.15 in late trade. Young Optics Inc (TW:3504) declined 9.66% or 11.50 points to end at 107.50 and Career Technology MFG Co Ltd (TW:6153) shed 7.80% or 5.00 points to 59.10.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 466 to 334 and 120 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for August delivery was down 0.55% or 0.40 to $72.36 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in September fell 0.30% or 0.23 to hit $77.23 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract fell 0.34% or 4.30 to trade at $1251.80 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.24% to 30.596, while TWD/CNY fell 0.05% to 0.2151.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.18% at 95.19.
