Investing.com – Taiwan equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the , Optoelectronic and Glass sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted lost 0.33%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Chia Ta World Co Ltd (TW:2033), which rose 10.00% or 1.50 points to trade at 16.50 at the close. SciVision Biotech Inc (TW:1786) added 9.97% or 6.70 points to end at 73.90 and Advanced Optoelectronic Technology Inc (TW:3437) was up 9.95% or 3.20 points to 35.35 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Associated Industries China Inc (TW:9912), which lost 5.46% or 0.65 points to trade at 11.25 in late trade. Tze Shin International Co Ltd (TW:2611) declined 5.01% or 0.40 points to end at 7.58 and Zero One Technology Co Ltd (TW:3029) shed 4.92% or 1.20 points to 23.20.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 512 to 278 and 120 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for May delivery was up 0.85% or 0.53 to $62.66 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in May rose 0.77% or 0.51 to hit $66.56 a barrel, while the April Gold Futures contract fell 0.11% or 1.50 to trade at $1316.30 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.08% to 29.151, while TWD/CNY fell 0.05% to 0.2180.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.03% at 89.44.
