Investing.com – Taiwan equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the , Trading & Consumer Goods and Glass sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted lost 0.30%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Avermedia Tech (TW:2417), which rose 10.00% or 1.05 points to trade at 11.55 at the close. Lingsen (TW:2369) added 10.00% or 0.86 points to end at 9.46 and Airmate (TW:1626) was up 10.00% or 2.40 points to 26.40 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Candmark (TW:5259), which lost 9.72% or 0.28 points to trade at 2.60 in late trade. Wei Chih Steel (TW:2028) declined 8.00% or 0.140 points to end at 1.610 and President Chai (TW:2912) shed 5.84% or 15.50 points to 250.00.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 426 to 304 and 124 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for September delivery was up 0.18% or 0.08 to $45.53 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in September rose 0.24% or 0.11 to hit $46.77 a barrel, while the August Gold contract fell 0.21% or 2.85 to trade at $1329.45 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.12% to 32.024, while TWD/CNY fell 0.24% to 0.2078.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.11% at 97.17.
