Investing.com – Taiwan equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the , Electronic Parts/Components and Cement sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted lost 0.28%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Asia Pacific Telecom Co Ltd (TW:3682), which rose 9.95% or 0.66 points to trade at 7.29 at the close. VIA Technologies Inc (TW:2388) added 9.88% or 2.40 points to end at 26.70 and Calin Technology Co Ltd (TW:4976) was up 9.87% or 3.05 points to 33.95 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Green Energy Technology Inc (TW:3519), which lost 9.36% or 0.64 points to trade at 6.20 in late trade. Global Unichip Corp (TW:3443) declined 7.07% or 13.50 points to end at 177.50 and Unimicron Technology Corp (TW:3037) shed 6.98% or 1.40 points to 18.65.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 533 to 263 and 105 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for January delivery was down 0.27% or 0.15 to $54.48 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in January fell 0.38% or 0.24 to hit $63.24 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract unchanged 0.00% or 0.00 to trade at $1228.00 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.14% to 30.903, while TWD/CNY rose 0.22% to 0.2244.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.10% at 96.485.
