Investing.com – Taiwan equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the , Glass and Hotels sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted lost 0.17%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Casetek Holdings Ltd (TW:5264), which rose 10.00% or 10.00 points to trade at 110.00 at the close. Faraday Technology Corp (TW:3035) added 10.00% or 6.90 points to end at 75.90 and VIA Technologies Inc (TW:2388) was up 9.92% or 1.20 points to 13.30 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Holy Stone Enterprise Co Ltd (TW:3026), which lost 9.17% or 11.00 points to trade at 109.00 in late trade. Compeq Manufacturing Co Ltd (TW:2313) declined 8.16% or 3.10 points to end at 34.90 and Pal Wonn Taiwan Co Ltd (TW:2429) shed 6.29% or 0.90 points to 13.40.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 426 to 344 and 120 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for March delivery was down 0.11% or 0.07 to $65.44 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in March fell 0.17% or 0.12 to hit $70.30 a barrel, while the February Gold Futures contract fell 0.70% or 9.60 to trade at $1353.30 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.04% to 29.104, while TWD/CNY rose 0.46% to 0.2185.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.40% at 88.83.
