Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Other Electronic, Trading & Consumer Goods and Cement sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted gained 1.41%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Kpt Industries (TW:1805), which rose 10.00% or 1.00 points to trade at 11.00 at the close. Advanced Optoelectronic Tech (TW:3437) added 9.95% or 2.80 points to end at 30.95 and Rexon Indu (TW:1515) was up 9.95% or 1.90 points to 21.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Tai-I (TW:1613), which lost 9.80% or 0.340 points to trade at 3.130 in late trade. Ennoconn (TW:6414) declined 9.71% or 38.50 points to end at 358.00 and Tatung Co Ltd (TW:2371) shed 6.54% or 0.85 points to 12.15.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 494 to 293 and 89 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for May delivery was up 0.67% or 0.34 to $51.37 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in June rose 0.65% or 0.35 to hit $54.52 a barrel, while the June Gold Futures contract fell 0.08% or 0.95 to trade at $1257.45 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.30% to 30.387, while TWD/CNY fell 0.04% to 0.2266.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.01% at 100.41.
