Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Glass, Paper & Pulp and Plastic sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted rose 0.57%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Right Way Ind (TW:1506), which rose 10.00% or 1.55 points to trade at 17.05 at the close. Sumagh High-Te (TW:1475) added 10.00% or 0.88 points to end at 9.68 and Jye Tai Precision Industrial Co Ltd (TW:6165) was up 9.97% or 3.05 points to 33.65 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Hannstar Touch (TW:3049), which lost 3.50% or 0.45 points to trade at 12.40 in late trade. Powertech (TW:3296) declined 3.16% or 0.60 points to end at 18.40 and Lextar (TW:3698) shed 3.01% or 0.45 points to 14.50.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 486 to 268 and 121 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for April delivery was down 0.17% or 0.09 to $53.11 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in May fell 0.27% or 0.15 to hit $55.86 a barrel, while the April Gold Futures contract rose 0.03% or 0.40 to trade at $1225.90 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.30% to 30.888, while TWD/CNY rose 0.09% to 0.2233.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.02% at 101.65.
